Karen Salicath Jamali Announces Two-Track EP Angel Sandalphon – The Music Lake

Composer, pianist and visual artist Karen Salicath Jamali releases her new two-track EP, Angel Sandalphon -The Music Lake. The EP proceeds her continuing musical conversation with Archangel Sandalphon and unites a concentrated literature which discusses music as a living, flowing being as opposed to a fixed entity.

The EP is two interrelated pieces, the first single, Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of New Beginnings), which was released on January 29, 2026, and the second piece, Angel Sandalphon (The Music Lake). The pieces together create a series of arcs. The former involves initiation and renewal with sound and the latter carries on that movement to a long-term movement, which further supports the notion of continuity that characterizes the Sandalphon voyage.
The music came at the time of the early morning entrance, when night gives way to day. Here, in this quiet, heightened-awareness space, Salicath was the recipient of the compositions, which he received in deep listening. Dawn is not just a time of creation, but a creative condition, when sound is free, and will is clear. The resulting work postulates music as a moving current, which brings renewal and new beginnings along it.
resonance not structure.

Archangel Sandalphon is known to be the angel of music, the patron of artists, the bearer of human prayers and a renewing presence. This EP converts those qualities into music, and music is seen as a prayer in action. Both compositions maintain a feeling of motion and engagement, which enables sound to act as an act and conduit -moving through the inner world of the listener. The Music Lake is the conceptual core of the release. It characterizes an area of consciousness in which sound, will, and relation combine to one continuous flow. The EP considers music as a place one gets into as opposed to the one they look at- a space that is created through movement, listening, and return.

The EP was mastered by acclaimed engineer Maria Triana who has spent the past 20 years of her career in the studio with Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Camila Cabello, and Britney Spears. The mastering of the EP does not sacrifice its depth and dynamic range but preserves the spatial clarity and tonal focus. Salicath does all the visual elements that accompany the release. One of her big fresco paintings is on the EP cover, as a visual representation of the Music Lake. The sketches in the supporting movies are the illustrations of the first-hand experience of Angel Sandalphon in her perspective.

Angel Sandalphon The Music Lake invites the audience into a specified audio sanctuary one constructed on flow, revival and connection. The EP introduces sound as movement, music as presence and listening as a participatory form of participation.
