ViperSnatch Unleashes Their Heaviest Sound Yet on “How ’Bout That”

On the closing track of their newest EP, BITCH BITE, ViperSnatch brings it all with an outrageous blast of anger, frustration and no apologies on “How ’Bout That.” The Riot Grrrl trio transforms common occurrences of gossip, toxicity and unwanted attention into a fierce track that feels like the breaking point, after holding everything back for too long.

The song’s theme is passive rage: rage that accumulates when people push your limits. ViperSnatch revels in that frustration, allowing it to explode into a track that is direct, rebellious and hard not to constantly think about.

Lily’s vocals are one of the highlights of the song. She’s very aggressive, very assertive, very confident with every line. The drumming from Riley is even more urgent as it propels the song forward with raw punk energy, and Kailee’s bass provides the dark and powerful base.

“How ’Bout That” is also the heaviest offering ViperSnatch have released to date, the instrumentation is aggressively placed and the performance is as intense as the mood of the lyrics. But this is not a completely random mess, there is musical control.

This isn’t a song about the quiet or those whose opinion you fear. It’s a matter of reaching the breaking point, snapping, and then saying, “Enough! Sometimes people have opinions. At times, they need to push it.
