London-based independent artist Micah Sol releases his debut single “Let Me Know”.
The track is an emotionally charged alt-pop record about wanting clarity from someone who keeps giving everything but an answer. A final ultimatum. The push-pull between love, resentment, hope and self-protection.
Micah Sol writes, records, produces and mixes all of his own music. He has been making music since his school years, spending hours locked in practice rooms before studying music technology and eventually finding himself, as he puts it, “sitting behind a desk at a corporate HQ.”
That gap between the person he was and the life he was living forms the emotional backdrop of this release.
“Let Me Know” was written in 2019 in the middle of a relationship defined by uncertainty. “I never knew if it was her not giving enough or me needing too much,” Micah says. “I wrote it because I genuinely didn’t know. The song isn’t an accusation. It’s a question.”
The track sat unreleased for seven years while Micah worked through a legal dispute that had effectively frozen his ability to put music out. When that ended, he walked for what he describes as an unmeasured amount of time. Then he came back and
finished the record.
Sonically, “Let Me Know” sits in the alt-pop space, polished and rhythmic with emotionally unstable edges. Comparable artists include Lauv and Khalid. The production moves between clean pop momentum and glitchy, unsettled moments that mirror the emotional state of the lyric.
“This song is the first thing I’ve made on the other side of all of it,” Micah says. “I learned not to celebrate too early. Every celebration in the last few years was followed by another setback. So I just made the work and let it out.”
