Independent country artist Deena Maddox has released her newest single, “Chasing the Sun,” a free-spirited country track built around freedom, adventure, and the desire to keep moving toward the things that make life feel alive.
Released August 8, “Chasing the Sun” captures the feeling of rolling the windows down, turning the music up, leaving the weight of everyday life behind, and following the horizon simply because you can.
“I wanted this song to feel like freedom,” says Maddox. “That feeling when you stop worrying about where you’re supposed to be, what you’re supposed to be doing, or how quickly you’re supposed to get there. Sometimes you just want to follow the road, enjoy the moment, and chase the sun.”
For Maddox, the song also represents the kind of artist she is becoming-one who isn’t afraid to let a song breathe.
“My music isn’t always made to fit perfectly into a radio format,” Maddox explains. “Some songs are meant to be turned up and jammed to. Some are meant for a long drive. Some are simply meant to make you feel something. ‘Chasing the Sun’ is one of those songs.”
“Chasing the Sun” was produced in Franklin, Tennessee at Off The Row Studio with PT Houston and Erin McCaffrey, continuing Maddox’s growing catalog of independently released country music rooted in storytelling, emotion, and authenticity.
The release marks another chapter in a year filled with new music for Maddox and leads into her upcoming eight-track project, Roots Run Deep, scheduled for release September 18, 2026.
The project reflects the stories, people, places, heartbreak, love, and experiences that have shaped Maddox along the way.
