Aaron Koenig Releases “Love Yourself” and its Video , a Duet with French Chanteuse Nectaria

For the first time Aaron Koenig launches a song in which he shares lead vocals with another singer: Nectaria from France. The song is a dialogue about self-love between Aaron and a creature in the mirror, a bit reminiscent of the Snow White fairytale.

“I first wrote the lyrics as a dialogue between me and my mirror image” explains Aaron, “but that felt a bit narcissistic. So I asked my friend Nectaria
to play the role of the mirror, and it’s so much better! We had a lot of fun recording the song and the music video!”

Aaron wrote the song when he was imprisoned at Berlin Airport for one night because of a judicial error. “I knew I hadn’t committed any crime, but it still felt a bit scary to be in a prison cell.” Aaron remembers. “So the best thing I could do to keep a high spirit was to write a song about self-love.”

This soul ballad is mostly driven by a piano played by Nicolás López Soto from Argentina, who also produced the song. It was recorded at Studio Constituyentes in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Love Yourself is the fourth song of Aaron’s latest album “Blow My Mind!” which contains 12 previously unreleased tracks.

The music video was shot in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where both Nectaria and Aaron spend some time of the year. Aaron Koenig writes catchy songs for people who like meaningful, uplifting themes and guitar-driven, handmade sounds.
