Terje Gravdal releases “Beautiful Lies” – a Nordic cinematic Americana reflection on truth and belief

Norwegian singer-songwriter Terje Gravdal releases his new single “Beautiful Lies” on March 27, as the focus track from his EP The Beautiful Lies.
Blending cinematic Americana with Nordic folk atmosphere, the song is built around restrained acoustic instrumentation and Gravdal’s deep baritone voice. The sound is intimate and reflective, carrying a documentary-like tone rooted in observation rather than judgment.

“Beautiful Lies” is part of Gravdal’s ongoing Witness series — a body of songs exploring how truth, power and belief shape everyday life. Written from the fjord landscapes of western Norway, the music reflects a northern perspective on universal themes.

Gravdal’s previous single “Winds Will Cover” reached the Semi-Finals of the 2025 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category, placing him among a small group of Nordic artists recognized in an otherwise USdominated field.

The EP The Beautiful Lies continues this trajectory, presenting five songs that move between personal reflection and contemporary realism, tied together by a consistent acoustic and cinematic sound. Written by Terje Gravdal and produced with David Michelsen and Marius Bergseth at The
Norwegian Sound Studio.
