C’batch is back with a version of “Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light)” that’s one of four versions of the song on the new EP “Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light)”. This version is unique in terms of its deep atmosphere, emotional guitar work and cinematic approach.
The opening moments of the track give off a sense of solitude at night. The electric guitar leads over a dreamy backdrop of lush synths, slow percussion and expansive electronic effects. Without words in the song, the guitar is the song itself, singing with a voice of hope, darkness and reflection.
It’s actually the guitar solo from C’batch’s song “Round & Round,” but given a new life in a vastly different context. The choice is perfect as the guitar gives free rein to its sound and the rest of the production creates depth and mystery.
The track has a sort of timeless quality thanks to the foggy, alternative rock vibe, the synths and the grainy 80s/90s influences. It’s not a “rock” song, but a bit like a scene out of a movie, allowing listener to create their own images and feelings.
“Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 – Cinematic” is a thought-provoking and immersive work of thought that shows that music can be a strong narrative, without ever saying a word.
